All In A Summers Day

Not much to journal, just some fun pictures. I'm a bit behind, these pics were from the last week or two.
The kids love toting around their personal blankets and wearing them like capes with hoods. If one of them starts wearing their blanket, chances are, they all will want to have them on. They will run around laughing and playing. The only down side is they fall off quite often and I spend more time putting them back on then they actually stay on. Hailey and Dylan decided to fore go their regular blankets and hauled out the big blankets . It is funny watching them try and manuver in these. They looked so cute, I had to get some pics.

My little artists, practicing with water before we start using the real paint. Not really, they just love doing anything with water, and this was no exception. Of course, the water didnt stay in the cups, or on the wall, but ended up on their shirts, shorts, hair... you get the picture. Oh summer fun!

Fathers Day Weekend

We had a very BUSY weekend. My nephew Matthews birthday party was Friday night. We took the kids and they had a blast entertaining everyone with their balloon antics. The next day, Saturday, my Mom was having the family over for a bar-b-que to celebrate Fathers Day and all the Daddy's in the family. (Unfortunately I didnt get any good pics, but everyone had a great time.)

Sunday we headed up the mountains to meet up with Brians family. The kids were really excited to get to run free and enjoy the mountain air.

I tried to get a group picture of Brian with the kids, but by this time, they wouldnt sit still long enough. So I settled on getting them two at a time while Brian was playing chase with them.

Refrigerator Bandits

Yes, our refrigerator has come under attack. The kids have learned how to grab ahold of the edge of the water/ice dispenser and climb up. We have to make sure the lock is on the water and ice. Dylan came up to me one day with his hair soaking wet. "Wet, mama, wet!" He was so proud of his wet hair and his ability to climb up the refrigerator.

They are also able to pull on the handles and get into the fridge. A few favorites are to turn the light on and off, pull as many bottles out of the door before I get to them and get apples out of the fruit drawer. (I dont usually let them into the fridge to get pics, I just happened to have the camera handy at this time)

The kiddos seem to go in spurts when it comes to invading the fridge. Once someone gets it open, they all want a turn. So at those times, I tie up the handles so they can't get them open. Such fun!

Naptime Entertainment

We have an exciting new look for the kiddos bedroom. All the cribs now sport this wonderful contraption called a crib tent. Hailey has had hers for about a month now and I thought we might be spared having to get three more. NO SUCH LUCK!

I'll start at the beginning. Dylan climbed out of his crib first. He climbed out when I was putting them down at night and came out of the bedroom. I knew when this happened that you are supposed to just put them back in bed without talking or making it into a game for them, so thats what I did. It took just two times and he stayed in bed and we didnt have a problem again. I thought to myself that wasn't so bad. All went well for a few weeks and then.... Hailey.

Dylan was staying in bed, but then Hailey figured out how to climb out. She stayed put at night, but liked to entertain during the nap hours.

I was sitting in the living room at nap time after having been in several times to put Hailey back in her crib. As frustrating as it was, I couldn't help laughing at her antics. As I was sitting there laughing and getting ready to go put her back again I heard a loud bang against the kids bedroom door and a round of laughter from four little ones who were supposed to be sleeping. I continued to hear it and thought I had to try and get it on video. This is Hailey, running around the room and I guess running into the door to get a laugh from her sibs.

I quickly went online and found the crib tent and had it shipped to the house. And so, Hailey was the first to camp indoors. I think all the other kids were jealous of her new and improved sleeping arrangements. Connor kept commenting on Haileys tent. "Hailey, tent." Nod, nod.

We were now back to peaceful naps and nights. For about a month. Then BOOM! The other three decided it was their turn. So there was Hailey all snug in her crib with the tent and the other three running wild at nap. I even went in at one time to put them back to bed when I found Haileys zipper had mysteriously started to open up about 10 inches. They were trying to break Hailey out! I guess Brooklyn, Dylan and Connor were having so much fun, they didn't want Hailey to miss it. I quickly ordered three more tents. They were very excited to each have their own tent. I, myself, was not so eager to put out the money for these things, (they are not cheap)but the munchkins still need their nap, as do I, (need the time they are down for nap) and this was the only way to keep that precious nap time.

They are now having great nap times, even sleeping longer, which is probably just a coincidence, but I will take it as long as it lasts.

Art and Literature

The kids love to color and whenever we sit down to color, I will count out ten crayons so I can keep track of them and keep the artwork on the walls to a minimum. Its amazing that as much as I pay attention and keep track, we have still ended up with a few markings on the front door and one toy. Brooklyn so far has been the main culprit. She is sneaky and waits until I am busy with a squabble between her sibs and then takes off. By the time I caught up with her, she had made her mark. So far the others are content to color on the paper and coloring books. Thank goodness.
They are really into counting right now. Hailey and Connor can both count to ten, and I will hear them throughout the day counting rings, pages in the book or just walking around counting. Dylan loves to count to three before launching his cars across the kitchen floor. Brooklyn has some of the middle numbers down and will count those first instead of starting with one.
Some new phrases I'm hearing around the house:
Dylan - "Hailey, come back."
Brooklyn - "Connor, get down. All done." As Connor was attempting to climb on the kitchen table.
Connor - A conversation with Connor goes something like this - Me "You guys need to share the space on this table. You're coloring books are big." Connor "Books, big." Nods head for emphasis. He always repeats the last two words of any sentence. I would love to get his head nod on video. He will walk around talking to himself and then nods his head as if to agree with himself, with what he's just said. Its too cute!
Hailey - This girl is having a language explosion.
"No chasing." "Hey, give that back!" "What doin' Mommy?" "I got em" "You did it" "Oh no Mommy. It wont play. It needs batteries."

Happy 8th Anniversary

Brian and I celebrated our 8th anniversary this past weekend up at Big Bear Lake! We had such an enjoyable, relaxing time and really needed this time away to reconnect. Many, many thanks to Gramma's and Papa's, Uncle Steve, Aunt Heidi and big sis Britt for helping out with the little ones so we could have this weekend.
